Basic Life Support (BLS)

The AHA’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

The American Heart Association's (AHA) Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED + Pediatric course aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to administer first aid, perform CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) effectively and safely. The course content aligns with the latest American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

This course includes the Heartsaver Total First Aid CPR AED online course, complete with an online student manual, and offers optional child and infant modules. Participants will also benefit from a hands-on skills check. Upon successful completion, you will receive an AHA Heartsaver Total First Aid CPR AED card, inclusive of child and infant certifications.

The AHA’s Heartsaver Total First Aid CPR AED course, which includes the optional child and infant modules, is tailored for individuals with minimal to no medical training. It meets the requirements for job-related certifications, regulatory standards such as OSHA, and is ideal for anyone seeking emergency preparedness skills. Topics covered encompass First Aid Basics, Medical, Injury, and Environmental Emergencies, Preventing Illness and Injury, Adult CPR and AED use, Opioid-associated life-threatening emergencies, as well as Child CPR AED and Infant CPR.

Upon completion, an American Heart Association certification, valid for two years, will be emailed to you directly from the American Heart Association.

HEARTSAVER 1st Aid CPR AED Total is for people with little to no medical training who need a course completion card that meets regulatory and/or OSHA requirements. 

If you do not need to meet regulatory or OSHA requirements you will want to take the regular Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED class (not Total). Total is longer and covers more topics than the regular class. There is also more testing involved.

This Adult and Pediatric blended learning First Aid CPR AED training certification course combines a 2 - 3.5 hour online learning course (done at home on your computer) with a 2-3 hour in-person hands-on skills session with an instructor (time will depend on how many of the optional topics you want to cover). The course prepares individuals to provide care for a variety of first aid emergencies including life-threatening bleeding, choking emergencies, performing CPR, and use of an AED. Adult CPR, Child CPR, and Infant CPR are included. 

 

Instructions:

Step 1: Once you have paid for the course here you will be sent a course activation email. The email will be sent within 24-48 hours. 

Step 2: Complete the Heartsaver 1st Aid CPR AED Total online portion of the course. The online course can be completed in approximately 2 - 3.5 hours. You have 30 days from the time that you receive the course activation email to complete the course. You can complete the online portion as quickly or slowly as you wish within 30 days of receiving the activation email. You will be able to save your progress for the online portion if you need to stop and come back to it later.

Step 3: Print the certificate of completion when you are done.

Step 4: Schedule a skills session with us by calling, texting, or emailing us to set up a time.

Do not schedule and pay for a skills session on our website. The price of the skills session is already included in the price for this class. If you schedule the skills session on our website you will be paying more.

Be sure to bring a copy of your certificate of completion to your skills session!

The online class can NOT be completed on a mobile device. It must be done on a computer or iPad.

Our classes have a no refund/no rescheduling policy. Once you pay for the course you must complete the course (online portion and skills session) within 30 days of receiving your activation code. The activation code is only good for 30 days. It is the responsibility of the student to complete the course within the 30 day time frame. Failure to complete the course within the time frame will result in the student needing to purchase the course again to access it.
